    Sussex team Enterprize win UK round of CIMA Global Business Challenge

    Team Enterprize made up of Prateek Sureka, Tom Kingston, Claire Harrison and Michal Tomaszewski have WON the national final of the CIMA global business challenge and will be representing the University of Sussex and the UK in the global finals in Singapore on the 21st August!

    The launch of 2009/10 Sussex Business Awards got off to a great start on Monday 22 June at the Sussex County Cricket Ground. This year celebrates the twenty-first anniversary of the county’s most prestigious award scheme and was marked by the launch of a new logo, new web site, new categories and new sponsors.

    Categories include (among others): Sussex Company of the Year, Sussex Businessperson of the Year, Small Business Award, Business in the Community Award, Award for the Most Sustainable Business and Award for Innovation in Business.

    Dairy farmers want Fair Trade status (www.farmersguardian.com)

    A campaign to award Fair Trade status to dairy farmers is gathering pace. Fair Trade is usually the preserve of struggling workers in the developing world but leading figures in British agriculture beleive the domestic market is in such trouble it needs similar protection.

    According to industry organisation Dairy Co the number of dairy farms in the UK has fallen by 46% in the last 12 years.

    A prize of £50,000 is on offer to disabled people who have show exceptional entrepreneurial spirit in the face of adversity. The Stelios Award for Disabled Entrepreneurs 2009 is an annual comeptition run by Leonard Cheshire Disability.

    Applicants must have a registered UK business with an annual turnover of at least £10,000 per annum. Closing date 4th Sept.
